Blog Update!
For those of you not following me on Facebook, as of the Summer of 2019 I've moved to Central WA, to a tiny mountain town of less than 1,000 people.

I will be covering my exploits here in the Cascades, as I try to further reduce my impact on the environment. With the same attitude, just at a higher altitude!

New year, new goals

Happy New Year!On the eve (okay, morning) of the new year I'd like to post, for all to see, some of the goals I've set for myself and this blog in 2008. So, here's what you all have to look forward to:

Book Club - We're starting the year off with a bang reading Affluenza. It's not too late to join in - all you need is the book. And even if you don't plan on reading it, my chapter summaries will give you the gist of what's going on. I'm hoping to do four books this year in the book club, so if you have something in particular you want to read, let me know and I'll add it to the next vote!

Challenges - We're still in the middle of the Freeze Yer Buns Challenge. I'll be checking in with you all soon. I've heard from several of you that you are having issues with the low temperatures. I can't say that I'm adapting all that well either, but we'll save that for a future post. And, for you intrepid readers, it's still not too late to enter!

There will be other challenges in 2008, but I'll leave those as a surprise! Teehee!

Low Impact Week 2008 - Did you miss out on last year's LIW? Or did you just try out a few things and want to do more? Maybe you're slipping on some of the changes you made and need another kick in the caboose? Well, look for another Low Impact Week this year, with an extreme category for those of you wanting a serious challenge. Last year I got a new tattoo to commemorate Low Impact Week. Let's see if I do something more nutty this year.

Project Nowaste - Looking for a way to minimize your food consumption? I'm referring to both overeating and what you throw out. Project Nowaste kicks off this Saturday, January 5th.

Frugal Living - I'm going to concentrate more this year on less consumption. In turn, less consumption ends up being quite friendly for the environment, so expect more posts to help out not only the earth but your pocketbook as well.

In between, I'll be posting about all manner of topics related to living more sustainably as well as educational posts and just plain ole silliness.

Finally, I wanted to say that I'm very grateful to have such wonderful readers as you guys. Starting this blog has changed my life in many different ways. And you all have made the difficult times in the last few months much more bearable. I have made, what I consider to be, several new friends through this blog and I look forward to making more in 2008.

So, here's to a happy and healthy New Year!

Thanks for reading,
Deanna
(aka Crunchy Chicken)

Thank YOU for creating this blog. It has certainly transformed my way of the thinking on a lot of issues. Two words - Diva Cup. I'm looking forward to Project NOWASTE and your frugal consumption tips. But really, I just read your blog cuz I really like you.

Take care and I'm hoping 2008 is the most uneventful year for you yet!

Love,
Rach

Sexay Crunchy!

Yours is the first blog I check in the morning, and then several more times each day to see what others have said. Winning the Diva Cup on your raffle all those months ago really got me headed well and truly down the green path - many thanks to you!

May 2008 be filled with good health, peace and contentment for you and all the Crunchies!

I need to do a New Year's post - might get around to it by February. However, I know one goal already: keep checking in on Deanna's blog to see what she's up to in 2008! Heck, check in just for the pics. Lookin' good there!

Dear Crunch --

I agree with other commentors! Thank YOU for starting this blog! I look forward to hearing what you have to say every day, and worry when you aren't there -- in light of Mr. Crunchy's situation.

It's fabulous to find like minded people that agree with your goals. (you have no idea how many times I've had to explain why I didn't put Christmas lights up this year...) And I love hearing about your garden forays.

I look forward to all your posts in 2008. Rock on sista!

We've settled out on our temps for the winter. 67 for the day and 55 at night.

I'm looking forward to all the fun coming in 2008.

Looking good! Alas, I won't post a photo until I've mastered Project NoWaste. ;-) Thanks for sharing your resolutions. Less consumption is a good one and one we're working on. Looking forward to more fun challenges in 2008.

Crunchy,

Thanks for reminding us to care in a world filled with apathy. Thanks for reminding us to smile when there are plenty of reasons not to. Thanks for being here and being who you are.

Best wishes to you, Mr. Crunchy and the little Crunchkins in '08 and beyond.

I am thankful for your blog because it reminds me that there are people out there like me who really care about the environment and are trying to make a difference.
PS...I also like your new photo!

Your blog stresses me out. From what I've read here, I have suffered many attacks of conscience. I even took tons of stuff to be recycled and am waiting until I have a car load to take in more. I've also turned the heat down (although one of my kids keeps turning it back up). I am truly overwhelmed by the amount of waste just our family produces. Sometimes I avoid coming here because I don't want to think about it anymore... but you leave such funny comments around on other blogs that I have to come back. I just might participate in the book discussion and a couple of weeks ago, I actually wrote down the names of all the books you were considering. I think the hardest part for me is that I find just thinking about it all overwhelming.

Anyway, all that to say... your blog probably is making more of a difference than you even realize. I'm taking baby steps which is more than I was doing a couple of months ago.

Beautiful picture!!!

I know how you feel. Sometimes I make a (wrong) choice out of habit or laziness, and then feel guilty. But I'm glad I know what I didn't know before, and I can also feel really good when I make a good choice.

Crunchy--Thanks for all that you do! I love your blog, and look forward to reading it in the new year.

And thank you for being such a daily inspiration, I'm looking forward to your new challenges this year! Especially Project NoWaste if we end up looking as hot as you ;-) LOL.

Cheers, Julie

Uh, sure wish I could get a super-model look alike to strike a sexy pose for me on my blog.

You know I participate in your little "programs" sans joining. I'm freezing my ever-growin' buttocks off here!

Happy New Year!

This is April btw, in case your worried that Clay is being all weird...um, which he is, but anyway.

Uh, okay, April. Why are you using Clay as a Nickname?

I remember when you weren't getting the number of comments you deserved to have in this section Ms. Crunchy. It wasn't that long ago. I'm glad you have got a fan club now and are making a difference just the way you wished you would. I have some irrepressible comments about your spectacular new photo, but Mr. Crunchy probably reads this blog so I guess I will skip over the rational exuberance. I would think with the current visual trend soon the site will not be safe for work.
Worry not, I am self employed and haven't the heart to fire me.
I love the Crunchy humor and the admirable willingness to just keep plowing through the rough spots and get to another fun episode.
And to Mr. Crunchy: I send you my wishes for a very healthy future and I hope it gets here very soon.

Well, 2007 was pretty crappy for me. The only highlight really was working on this blog and interacting with all of you. If I had to look back on one bright shining thing, it was the fun I had here. And I do feel a sense of accomplishment, no matter how small.

Anyway, I was going to just huck a picture of some fireworks up for this post, but decided to do something more personal. Of course, what I ended up with was pretty personal, but it was a real fun way for me to end this year. Mr. Crunchy was quite enamored of it too :)

I may just have to start a new series of photos: "Green Is Sexy" where each month I post pinupy style pictures of me doing something green.

I just found your blog as one of my resolutions is to be more conscious on a daily basis of how I can live a more sustainable life. I figured I'd need some inspiration and it looks like I've found a good spot. From the little I've read so far, you have been an inspiration to many.... I look forward to reading more! Thanks!

Because I was using his kickass Mac which is soooo much nicer than my little pansy acer. And I forgot to change the user name, too much work for me.
