Blog Update!
For those of you not following me on Facebook, as of the Summer of 2019 I've moved to Central WA, to a tiny mountain town of less than 1,000 people.

I will be covering my exploits here in the Cascades, as I try to further reduce my impact on the environment. With the same attitude, just at a higher altitude!

Craft Challenge update

I thought I'd give you an update on how much progress I've made in my Craft Challenge - where you were supposed to pick one of your unfinished craft projects and pledge to finish it by the end of September.

What started as a huge pile of cut out pieces for Emma's quilt has turned into completed top and bottom quilt pieces. I pinned the batting and the layers together last night and will begin the actual quilting of it this weekend. Once I, uh, figure out how to do it and whatnot.

Did I mention that I hand sewed everything? I have two sewing machines, but I'm finding that if I have to set up the machine and sit down at it, it never happens. The cool thing about hand sewing the quilt is that I can do it anywhere. On the couch, upstairs, downstairs, in bed (my husband makes a great pin-cushion!). In any case, it's very convenient and probably why I have made so much progress.

Emma has been very inspired by all the sewing I'm doing so I cut out pieces from the extra fabric to make a matching pillow for her stuffed critters. I got her started on sewing it together and she got somewhat far before she poked herself one too many times and gave it up. I need to get her a sewing set with a little less poke in it.

My craft challenge was to finish something by the end of September and I'm hoping I can make that happen. I also stated that I had to finish one thing before I bought anything for a new craft, but dang it! Those Halloween fabrics were too nice to pass up. And I'm planning on making some napkins out of them. Just maybe not until October :)

How is this informal Craft Challenge going for you? Are you making any progress?

Actually making progress, so thank you for inspiring me! The quilts are done, which makes it look like I've done a lot more than I actually have, since two almost-finished quilts take up a lot of room. :) But I have currently pulled out any pieces I already cut-- somehow I have three precut projects ready to sew-- so they're next for rapid gratification purposes. Great idea, by the way-- the space between the sofa and the window is now free of the clutter of my crafty items. It can go back to being a little hideaway for the kids. :)

I have been doing well with my crafting as well. I just need to iron and cut out a few more pieces of fabric before I dig out my sewing machine. So far I have enough fabric cut out to make about 50 reusable sandwich bags! I plan on giving one of each pattern away as gifts and keeping one of each to add to my own stash, the rest I plan to sell. :)

My project is to get caught up on some crochet projects I planned - matching flower scarfs for my daughter and her doll, maybe a couple of scarfs for my nieces.

I'm impressed with your work on the quilt. I'd like to make a couple of throw quilts for the kids made from cut-out pieces from some of my husband's t-shirts. When I was packing up his things, I kept a bunch of his nicest tees - the ones that were more meaningful - to use for it. I'm hoping to make them in time for Christmas. I'll have to give some thought to hand sewing.

Hmmm.... I might be failing in this department....

My quilt top is now finished. I have pieced together the binding and ironed it. I haven't found time to trim down the quilt to get the binding attached.

I have purchased the supplies needed to finish the handbag except for the thread but haven't actually done anything with it.

*ducks head* but I started a new project.... I took down the swag in the dining room and am part of the way through turning it into curtains. At least it didn't require me to buy anything new?

Getting a second job and trying to find a new first job has really cut into any time to do anything - esp. crafting.

I don't have any craft projects, but I have been meaning to make cloth wipes and pads for a while now, and I finally have the cloth... When school things calm down a bit.

I will try and finish knitting the baby blanket for my cousins baby on the way (mind you i only started it last week so not really been hanging around that long).

Just 10 1/2 squares to go...

I started a new project. Dang it! But I need a nice throw blanket that doesn't require sewing and don't like the no sew method. I lost steam with crocheting reusable bags but I'll pick it back up tonight.

I did! Finished a few things, mended some pants, in general whittling down the to-do pile next to the sewing machine.

Still crocheting. It's taking me about 20-25 mins to finish one row across, so I've been doing one here and there at work between chores when she's watching TV. I've been keeping it in the car though, so if I go anyace and have to wait, I can work on it some. Washing down the walls, windows and floor of my new office since my roommate moved out, and getting all the furniture and critters situated. Once that is done, I'm going to pick back up on my papercrafting, starting with making my holiday cards. Hope to have these done by Halloween. Once the holiday season is upon us it will be time for salt dough ornaments and other projects with the nieces and nephews, not to mention all the cookies! (Yes, cookies count as crafts because I love making them decorative and artistic!) Happy crafting all!

I primed and painted the kitchen. The paint was sitting in the garage for at least a month after I bought it. I used no VOC paint. Yay me!

What a fun challenge and I think I just might have to give it a try because I've had this huge table top painted and sitting in my kitchen since February that I've been meaning to turn into some wall art - I need to jazz it up with some funky touches - fabric, paper, all of that good stuff!

I love your blog and I'm off to become a follower now too!
