Blog Update!
For those of you not following me on Facebook, as of the Summer of 2019 I've moved to Central WA, to a tiny mountain town of less than 1,000 people.

I will be covering my exploits here in the Cascades, as I try to further reduce my impact on the environment. With the same attitude, just at a higher altitude!

Craft Challenge update numero dos

Just keep sewing, just keep sewing...

I've been spending so much time working on stitching together the quilt I made for my daughter that my hand is actually sore. It took me some time to figure out why my hand was hurting me but, between the quilt and making napkins with some cute Halloween fabric, I think I'm getting hand-sewer fingeritis from using tiny finger muscles that heretofore haven't gotten as much exercise.

I know, I'm cheating on the Craft Challenge, where you were supposed to pick one of your unfinished craft projects and pledge to finish it by the end of September without starting anything new. But, four out of five napkins are done and at least I'm making serious progress on the quilt.

I'll have some updated pictures posted in my next update. I'm not sure if I'll have completely finished the quilt by the end of the month, but I'll definitely have it done in time for Emma's birthday at the end of October. Just in time to cozy down in cooler weather with a brand new quilt, hand-sewed by Mom!

How is your Craft Challenge coming along?

I'm almost finished the baby blanket. Although I have been putting off sewing up the last two squares for a couple of weeks now. I have been distracted by the discovery of the Ravelry.com network and the various simple patterns for wrist/arm warmers from their (have made about 5 pairs this month). But alas I will have it finished by next week. I will also have my nephews rasta wrist warmers finished by then too as both will be sent to Australia in the same package at the end of the month.

I finished curtains for my grandsons' rooms (2)! Along with an online sewing "challenge" that I signed on for the month of September. Next, I'll be unravelling some thrifted sweaters to use the interesting yarn to make crocheted scarves for gifts. Waste not, want not ;)

I've finished so many things thanks to you and another blogger who urged us to get rid of the old projects!

I turned a pair of curtains into 4 skinny accent curtains for the store I work at. I turned an old pair of snowboarding pants into jammies for my son, I turned 2 t-shirts into one fun t-shirt with the chickadee pattern from Burda Style. Put the ending touches on a 19 yard skirt for belly dance, made a lunch bag, and I'm starting some new things now! Dog beds, halloween costumes, and christmas presents. I'm going to make as much stuff as I can!

All this accomplishment is also owed to learning how to use my serger, and the fact that both of my kids just started school. The youngest is in kindergarten now, so I have all sorts of time I'm not used to! I've cleared out 4 bags of stuff! It's space saving and clears your mind!

I finished painting my kitchen with no voc paint. I put the curtain rods up last weekend and even made the dog a little recycled art project that hangs over his dog dish.

Last weekend I painted a wood filing cabinet I bought at the Restore with left over no VOC paint. It still needs to cure a bit before I fix one of the drawers.

Since my time is very limited, I would say this is going VERY slowly.

I have likely moved from making the quilting binding to attaching the quilt binding since the last update. I have less than 24 inches left of attachment before I work on rolling it over and attaching it to the back.

The good news is that once a week at my second job, I get an opportunity to do some hand sewing in my spare time. This means that I am starting to put together the quilt back to a lap quilt that was probably cut out more than a year ago.

Now if work would just quit getting in the way of my fun!

Busy busy busy. I finally have my craft room/office in some kind of order. Started in on the holiday cards, and have been making random birthday, thank yous, and get well soons in between as ideas hit me or when I need a break from the red and green. The afghan and I are in a period of disagreement. I'm not sure what I want to do with it. I only bought eight skeins and I'm going to need at least twice that to make it work, so now I need to figure out how I wabt to do it, either with the same color, or striped with ivory or something. Pj's are on hold til moms back gets better and she can sit at her machine. Wings are still not happening, mostly because I forget about them and need to find some more wire. Scrapbook on hold til holiday cards are finished. I'm not doing so good on this one, but it surely has motivated me to keep on working on this stuff!
