Not to go off-topic, or anything, but; have you ever gone brunette, Crunchy?
All the conversation about beauty etc put that in my head.
Not to be misunderstood, your abundant blond curls look great. But the color thing has intrigued me for decades. Spice recently surprised me for my birthday, and went deep red (I'd teased her for years about wanting a redhead for my birthday). She thinks it makes her feel better about herself- which is a hell of a good bargain, for the cost of the dye.
Everybody on the planet has self doubts about their appearance- absolutely everyone. Anything that alleviates some of that craziness has to be good.
So. Just wondering; since you seem to be a thoughtful explorer of those pathways.
Greenpa - I have had short brown-reddish hair. Before my husband and I spent 10 weeks travelling through Mexico, I cut off my long blonde hair very short and colored it dark.
I did this mostly so I wouldn't stick out and get any unwanted male attention. It didn't exactly work (as my husband will attest to - it drove him bonkers), but I liked the look and repeated it a few times in the 90s.
Since then, I've been back to blonde since it's actually easier to take some color out than try to keep the darker color on (it was semi-permanent so it washes out).
I've never had long dark hair. I might have to give that a whirl one of these days, but, like I said, it's harder to keep the color on my hair. I haven't tried henna, but a lot of people love it.
very cool! When you and I and Sharon finally get locked into that room together, we'll have to have a good long talk about hair color and women's experiences. :-)
Red, I think, is confusing for many males; and women's anecdotes there are mixed so far as I know. But there are also a huge range of colors included in "red", so that may be part of it. It pretty definitely turns some guys on- and would surely be a novelty (always a turn on) in Mexico-
I've never understood why the color companies haven't tried selling change, as a habit.
"Be Brunette In The Boardroom, And A BLONDE On The Beach!!" - would sell a lot of coloring, I think. :-)
