Blog Update!
For those of you not following me on Facebook, as of the Summer of 2019 I've moved to Central WA, to a tiny mountain town of less than 1,000 people.

I will be covering my exploits here in the Cascades, as I try to further reduce my impact on the environment. With the same attitude, just at a higher altitude!

My punkin made a pie!

Random pumpkin pie pictureYes, the man who, two weeks ago, couldn't walk because of the double-barrelled blood clots he was sporting in his legs. The same man who, two months ago, was clinging onto dear life in the ICU. This man that I love got his ass in the kitchen and made me some pie!

That's right. Mr. Crunchy has cast away his wheelchair and his walker like a man saved at a religious revival. It's like a miracle! Well, that and handfuls of medications.

And, since he's Mr Crunchy and all, this was a totally local pumpkin pie, with the pumpkin from our backyard and everything else local too.

I'm trying to convince Sir Crunch-a-lot to write a guest blog post, but I was thinking of instead doing an Ask Mr. Crunchy, similar to my Ask Crunchy posts. He just needs a little encouragement...

Dear Mr. Crunchy,

Three cheers for your pie making!

Now think about this...what's easier? Guest blogging or making pie for the entire class. We all like pie too, you know.

So glad to hear that you are feeling better. Absolutely fabulous news.

PS: I've tried to convince my sweetie to do an occasional guest post, too. Have you seen one on my blog? No..... *sigh*

he has to at least give the recipe, don't you think?
glad he is feeling better.
for an entire blog dedicated to the healing power of pies (and animals) see Donkey Dreams & Pino's Pies:
http://donkey-dreams.blogspot.com/
If he isn't up to writing on this blog, maybe he can send his story to Pino the donkey, who is gathering material on pies.

Crunchy, Sire: I vote that you do what you want to do when you feel you can do it. I was badly injured in 1999 and it took me three years to learn to walk normally again, and only by late 2006 did I feel well enough to say "I feel good!".
Even now I sometimes detect one leg or the other dragging and have to consciously correct my walk! I hear my therapist {a tiny but strict woman} shouting to get my attention: "Walk this way, the way you are supposed to!"
At the time of the accident all of my friends and clients insisted that I was indeed lucky- lucky to be alive, lucky not to be paraplegic, lucky to have recovered from a spinal injury and so on.
Honestly, I did not feel very lucky, lucky hurt big time.
All the same, excuse me for saying, that aside from your unfortunate recent and ongoing health crises you DO have a lot to feel lucky for pal. Why, just being a member of the Crunchy Clan is pretty lucky I think, and there is always the ecstasy of pie. I was alone throughout the years of recovery and I think you are lucky to be with such a lovely family, butt freezing included.
I know the real reason you were in the kitchen, pal. It's warm in front of that stove.
I send my best wishes for your rapid and lucky recovery and hope you keep your buns warm whipping up some winter delicacies.
Happiness to all the Crunchy Crew.
