Blog Update!
For those of you not following me on Facebook, as of the Summer of 2019 I've moved to Central WA, to a tiny mountain town of less than 1,000 people.

I will be covering my exploits here in the Cascades, as I try to further reduce my impact on the environment. With the same attitude, just at a higher altitude!

I just posted a few reflections on Low Impact Week so far. You can find it HERE. I hope everyone's doing well and having fun with it. I;m in the had a few slip ups group but I think I'm learning as I go. This was a good idea CC, glad you followed up on it.

I've fallen into the skip category. The rain collection got sidetracked. First, we haven't had any. Second, we can't/shouldn't use water off of our roof for drinking or plants for eating. We have filled our flower beds with herbs. So there is very little landscaping that we don't eat.

I'd really hoped to be able to keep the AC off completely this week since we'd been so successful for my two practice weeks. Instead, we've had 2 days (one was actually May 31) where we turned it on for an hour in the evening and then kept the windows closed until we open just ONE in our bedroom for overnight. That one hour seemed sufficient to take the steam out of the air and worth the $2.12 extra we'll be donating to TXU. So, I'm in the "still positive with a few modifications" group as I don't think it would have occurred to me to lower the thermostat for just a limited period of time. That's still quite interesting, to me.

I'm using the rain water for indoor plants and cleaning purposes while I use the shower water on the food plants. The PITA is that there's always a somewhat ugly bucket sitting around full of water in the bathroom and kitchen (because we've HAD rain and it's waiting for me to clean something with it). Sounds to me like you have the perfect excuse not to clean the bathroom and kitchen. :-)

It's going really well so far. We're looking at what actions/behaviors we will continue with after the week's end. Each day's post over the week is focused on one category of your list: energy, car use, water, paper, garbage, food, and ongoing.

I'm late (as with anything I'm a day late and a dollar short)...but I will be posting about the things we've been doing in the past months to be more lower impact later in the week.

What a great idea! It's all about BABY steps.

I posted an update last night, and took the bus to work this morning! It takes three to four times as long to get to work, but wasn't entirely unpleasant.
