Blog Update!
For those of you not following me on Facebook, as of the Summer of 2019 I've moved to Central WA, to a tiny mountain town of less than 1,000 people.

I will be covering my exploits here in the Cascades, as I try to further reduce my impact on the environment. With the same attitude, just at a higher altitude!

Gardening gloves

Manly glovesWhat do your gardening gloves say about you? All-business, manly, girly, fashionable?

First off, how many pairs do you own?

I now have three. I have one manly pair, one all-purpose pair and now I have one girly pair that my Mom dropped off this morning. These new ones (she got for free, of course) don't exactly fit but are perfect to keep in the garage for those impromptu moments when a weed catches my eye and it must be pulled now.

Girly and all purpose glovesI must say, when I do wear them I will feel very 1950's, like I should be wearing high heels and a knee length dress whilst I am weeding.

Oh, and an apron too.

I had to laugh when I thought of pulling weeds in a dress and high heels with an apron.

You have a good blog - I have been doing some research on the 100-mile diet, so was interested to see it mentioned in your links.

I'll add your blog to my gardening blog links...

I have a few pairs I have picked up here and there, but nothing special. My favorite - a pair of goatskin gloves that molded to my hands. For some reason, they didn't make it into my box during a move, and I have mourned their loss ever since.

no gloves, I'm hard core ;)

Hundreds of pairs. Okay, maybe just dozens; I tend to go through them quickly, and I hate dirty gloves so I have a lot of them. They're they dipped kind. And there are the mannish work gloves, too (they don't get washed though).

Oh, geez! I have a pair on the back porch, one in the chicken coop and several in the garage in my gardening locker. Some have holes, some are too big and others are missing a mate. I love to buy new gloves, I really like the hardy ones that thorns can't poke through.

Whoa! Phelan doesn't wear gloves! Dang, she's tough!

Oh, and no gloves when we slaughter a chicken....I don't know why?

I have 2 pairs but I really never wear them. The dirt always gets inside the glove and really irritatest me. I do have 1 heavy duty pair that I will wear when doing hard shoveling to avoid blisters. Beyond that, no gloves.

kate - link away! Thanks for visiting.

qt - I'm always sad when I lose something like that. Maybe they'll turn up someday.

phelan - you must have hands of steel. I'm a total wimp with things that are pokey.

el - I do like those dipped kinds. They looked suspicious when I first saw them, but I'm sold on them now.

april - I'm right there with you on the thorns. But I'd be wearing a rubber suit for the chicken slaughter.

christy - I somehow manage to get blisters even with gloves on. Must be all the dirt in there :)

No gloves...yet. But I'm afraid of lurking snakes, so it's probably a matter of time.

I actually kind of enjoy getting my hands right down in that dirt :)
