Chiogga beets - yum! Unfortunately, I wont be planting anything this weekend as we in the 20's at night right now until Sunday, I believe.
Yep, too cold here too. Such a bummer. I had a few beets last year and want more, more, more this year.
I bought onion sets this year for the first time. I wonder how they'll do? I haven't had success w/ many root vegetables, hopefully my new beds will help w/ that.
BTW I laughed out loud at your comment on my latest post.
What's pretty cool about those beet seeds is they're 2-6 seeds per alien-looking pod. Wild huh.
We'll still be snowbound this weekend so I will simply be pacing.
Well, hopefully it will warm up for you guys soon. I always forget what the weather is like in the rest of the country!
I'll have another "Whatcha plantin'" post in a few weeks to check in with you all.
we planted chiogga beets too!! and kale, broccoli, white & purple cauliflower, red & yellow onions, carrots. We'll see what happens! Can't believe this crazy warm weather we're having! Yippeee
eva - I know! I can't believe the weather. It was 78 at 7:00 pm. I was out mowing the lawn. Strange indeed.
Nasturtiums, cosmos, zinnias, wildflower mix, sunflowers, all in naturalizing areas (I hope)
and don't forget some Awwwnn-YAWWNS (onions)...nothing fancy. I'm determined to get the potatoes into SOMETHING grow-worthy, too. All of this, slated for Sunday, we hope! And more lettuce seeds...whatever I can get my hands on as far as local seed packets till I can order from the many seed companies I spend hours drooling over :)
You've got a great garden started...you go, girl!
Nothing planted this weekend, too cold. Yesterday (Saturday), we never got above 32 degrees. That's cold!
Nice Blog.
In the garden: a few kinds of garlic (first year for garlic), egyptian walking onions (have done onions from sets but not these guys). Also planted pea seeds when it was in the 70s a week ago but it's been nothing but snow ever since :(
Later will be beans, tomatoes, and peppers.
It looks more like you've been cleaning up after a rabbit than like seeds . . . clearly I am no gardener!
