Got a lot of blackberries? Then check out this recipe for Blackberry Mojito Fruit Leather.

I'm not a huge fan of fruit leathers, but this turned out super good! And, really, you can't go wrong with blackberries, mint and rum.

Goat porn

I heart goatsTomorrow is my City Goats 101 class at the incomparable Seattle Tilth.

I'm hoping we don't have to watch any goat porn in the section on reproduction because then I'd be rivalling Sharon's children in their knowledge on farm animal sex. I'm not sure what kind of zoophilia operation she's running over there, but that might explain why her on-farm retreats are so popular.

Anyway, I don't know exactly all that we will be covering in class, but it includes topics like city regulations, miniature breeds, yard and shelter, feeding, breeding and babies, milking and herd health. I don't intend on getting goats anytime soon, I just like going to these classes and getting educated. And, who can resist a class taught by someone from the "Goat Justice League"?

I'm hoping for hands on goat cuteness, but I think I'll have to wait for the Harvest Festival or something to play out that fantasy. In the meantime, I'll give you the ins and outs of city goats after the class.

Goat porn? Oh man, and I'm getting ready for bed - sure hope I don't have some freakish, nightmares that haunt me for the rest of my days! ;}

Haha, if they did show some goat porn, I'm betting that it would be hilarious- bucks are silly animals.

When we took our girls to get bred it was a flurry of waving arms, flapping tongues, and yodeling bucks.

I just posted a picture of our handsome stud, Elvis, on my blog. So far, he's produced 26 pretty babies (and still counting) this year. How's THAT for goat porn? You should see them when they're "courting". Hilarious.

Have fun! We got out first pygmy goats when I was in elementary school. Nanny and Billy (we were very creative with the names) had baby Frisky. My dad built them a cute little house and they ate all the shingles off the roof. Last spring, Annabelle demolished the cute little house while scratching herself on it. We have a goat now, and she likes to climb up a big log and jump off of it. They're so cute to watch!

I'd be worried about how much space you have. I'd love to get a cute little goat, but with our yard, I'd be worried it would smell. Be sure to ask at the class how much land is required (I'm guessing not much... if it's urban) and what to do with all the poop. Compost?

Every year at this time I get all lusty for goat babies. Dang they're cute! But if we can't build fences to keep horses in, how are we gonna keep goats!
