It's been about 9 years since I first started talking about using menstrual cups as an environmentally friendly alternative to using tampons or disposable menstrual pads. I'm curious to get your input on the State of the Period when it comes to menstrual cups. Have they become more popular/acceptable?
So, just out of curiosity, tell me what you think...
I tried the Diva Cup a few times, but never could get it to work for me. Now I have an IUD, and since a cup can be problematic with an IUD, I'm sticking with tampons.
ReplyDelete@Emily - That's interesting! Do you know how it's problematic or different than tampons with an IUD? Is it the possible suction?
ReplyDeleteI love my diva cup now, but I must admit that it took me a few months to order one and then another month of considering it and being a bit scared before I finally tried it. It took a little getting used to, but so much more convenient. I think maybe I heard about them first here.
ReplyDelete@owlfan - Yeah, I was afraid to try it and probably would have dragged my feet even longer if I hadn't done the challenge. Safety in numbers!
ReplyDeleteI don't use the cup, but I've always been afraid of tampons, as well. I stick with reusable pads! :)
ReplyDeleteMy daughter was a pre-menstrual youngster when I bought my first Diva Cup, and at the time, I pondered getting my daughters a cup when they came-of-age, so to speak. She is now a young adult with aspirations to be a world traveler (and she's already been to Europe and the Middle East, and will hike the Appalachian Trail next summer). She sent a link to me and my husband of this article - "100 Gifts for Travelers" - or something like that (might not have been 100 things). A Diva Cup was on the list! Ha!
