Giveaway: Another heated blanket to warm you up

Freeze Yer Buns Challenge 2008I know a lot of you are still freezing your buns and signed up for the last heated blanket giveaway. Well, now you get another chance at winning, this time with a bigger blanket!

Today's giveaway is a Sunbeam Luxurious Herringbone Heated Blanket (Full Size). This blanket includes a 10 hour auto-off back-lit digital control with multiple warming settings. It also features a preheat setting to warm up cold sheets before bedtime and a warming system that can sense and adjust to deliver consistent heat. You can machine wash and dry it as well and the color is dark blue. The list price on this product is $125.

Sunbeam claims that you can save up to 10% a year on your heating bill by turning on your heated blanket and setting your thermostat back 10% to 15% for 8 hours while you sleep. The benefit here is that you are heating locally rather than the whole house.

Caveats: this blanket is 70% polyester and 30% acrylic, so if you have issues with synthetic fibers, consider yourself warned, or, should I say, "warmed"? Also, some people have concerns with using electric blankets and EMF, but it is up to you to determine if the alleged risk is worth it. I suspect there's just as much a health risk burning oil heat in the house every night all winter, but that's up to you. There's also the pre-heat option if you don't want it going all night.

Okay, now that I've alerted you to the obvious, if you want to be entered in the giveaway, add your name to the comments of this post. This giveaway is open until Wednesday, November 26th, 6:00 pm PST. I'll be doing a random drawing and announcing a winner on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 27th.

Good luck!

  33. Can I enter on Nadine's behalf?

My down comforter keeps me plenty warm at night, even with the thermostat down to 55, so I don't need another blanket of any variety. But Nadine won't have computer access for the next several days, and I know she'd love it -- she signed up last time. Many thanks!

  43. OK, put me in. I might actually get to join in with freezing my buns off if I win! I don't mind the cold, but another nameless member of my family can't deal with it, which leaves me out in the cold with this challenge. This certain family member likes heated blankets :-)

  48. Please, please, me, me. We can't have our heat on at night because I get migraines if it is turned on while sleeping. Our room is the coldest one in the house and we can practically see our breath in there. We already have 2 comforters, a quilt and another blanket. I sleep in sweats, sweatshirt, sweater and 2 pairs of socks. I still freeze DH even with the 2 pairs of socks. Here's to keeping toes (if they are not frozen)and fingers crossed..............

  49. sounds wonderful! Now maybe I can actually sleep in my bed instead of on the sofa beside the woodstove!

  50. It would be nice to have this since we haven't turned on our heat yet. I live in a place that still gets fairly warm during the day but it's cold when the sun disappears. My hubby and kids don't mind at all that we are trying to conserve energy because they like being cold. Me, I hate it!

I also just realized that I could give it to my stepfather who is always cold due to being on dialysis. He complains when my mother stays up late and doesn't come to bed to keep him warm.

  53. Even with flannel sheets, I still dread the initial shock of getting into a cold bed. A heated blanket sounds almost as good as a tropical vacation.

  58. Wow, what a huge group of frigid women! lol. And only one can win!

I'm ex-frigid. On chilly nights, I make up 2 hot water bottles a half hour ahead of bed time, and put them under the comforter. Sure, there are still icy areas, but it all gets kind of exciting, climbing in.

  74. This would be great. My room is freezing in the winter and I'd love some heat. I might not crawl out from under the blankets in the morning but it would sure get me to bed earlier at night. Knowing that there's a warm bed to climb into.
