  4. Kim Todd. She wrote a book called _Tinkering with Eden_ that contains vignettes of how invasive plants arrived. Here delivery of the material is such that it can reach me, the botany girl, as well as someone who may have very little nature background. She's my environmental education hero.

  6. As other posters said my kids and also my "future grandkids"=I"m also inspired by the beauty of the wildlife that I see daily on our land. I think of all 3 every time I do something that helps the enviroment!

  7. I wish I would be able to say "my children", but if I'm being completely honest...I have to say that the facts/statistics spur me on the most. When I see the ever-increasing plastic bag counter on reusablebags.com or when I read about how many pounds of trash are thrown away each year, or are floating around on a barge outside of NYC because there is no room there...Or how many pounds of plastic water bottles are thrown away weekly/monthly/yearly...and the facts on what I can do to help and how it all helps...those are the things that really make me think that I can make a difference---that I HAVE to make a difference...

  8. My Taoist beliefs. The more I come to know how I and all of humanity are interconnected with the Earth and the Universe as a whole, the more important it is to treat the Earth with kindness, because in doing so I am being kind and compassionate to myself and to all the beings sharing the planet. That may sound kind of abstract or even corny, but I feel it more and more keenly every day.
