Around the homestead

Sorry for the lack of postings, but with my back out of whack I can neither work out in the yard (my therapy) or do anything I need to do. Henceforth, I'm a little down in the dumps.

In any case, I took some pictures the other day and thought I'd share them.

First up, Backyard Breakfast, thanks to the ton of salad greens we have growing in the backyard as well as the girls.

Here are some flowers that I have no idea where they came from or what they are. In any case, they are in the planter box next to our front door and are blooming like crazy.

Here's the reason why my back is out of whack. Note to self - do not dig up and install patio by yourself.

It's alive! My tiny fig tree survived the winter.

Finally, I got my hair cut about 6 weeks ago. I should probably change my banner since I no longer look like a giant hairball.

Yesterday, while the rest of the country appeared to be having a heat wave, we hit highs of about 54. And pouring rain. One of these days we'll get some summer weather. Hell, I'll settle for some spring weather.

Between the weather and my back, I still haven't planted my tomatoes. I'm pretty sure they are giving me the finger every time I walk by.

LOVE the hair. I wish I could do short. One day I may try again (and then my husband may serve me with divorce paper, lol)

Patio looks great too.

Oh, yes! Your hair looks fantastic!

And don't feel bad. We may be a bit south of you and a few degrees warmer but not much. I've almost given up on growing squash (summer or winter) this year.

Love the hair! And not just because I have a similar cut which validates us both as women of exceptional taste. :)

Your hair looks rockin'! As does the patio! I wouldn't worry about the tomatoes too much. I am not holding out too high of hopes for this summer =(
Sorry about the back- I'm finally healed enough to return to work (so I went all out in the garden this weekend.duh. i'm paying for that.)
Hang in there!

Last year I got a complementary packet of sweet chocolate peppers - a sweet pepper, tastes about like a green bell, and the color of chocolate. I have nine started from kept seed, and have yet to get them into the garden. They are about 10 inches high, in the starting tray.

I ran out of tin cans, that I find helps the plants survive the bugs and weeds in the garden. (I cut the top and bottom out of a pork and beans or soup can, then push it around the newly planted seedling.)

The Navy doctor gave me a set of really annoying back exercises that are very helpful. The illustrating graphics are of pregnant women. The annoying part is that they only relieve the soreness and cramping if I actually do the exercises. Grr.

Get well soon, and Blessed be!

But you know there is always hope when your fig tree survives:0 I just planted some of my tomatoes this past weekend during that little blip of summer we had. I figure we still have time...

Those flowers might be Mexican Petunia's. Not certain as I can't see the leaves.

You should head to the chiropractor for your back!

Dear Crunchy,

I'm pretty sure my tomatoes are giving me the finger *because* I took them out of the cold frame and planted them.

This year, in the West, you can't win :)

Yep, great hair.

Nice job on the patio! I keep reading instructions on how to do it, and they intimidate me. "Must be immaculately level" and "six inches of sand as a base" are scaring me.
Yours looks great.

At least you have something lovely to show for your suffering, nicht wahr? But pain sucks and I wish for you healing vibes.
So you're eating some of the girls? Did they quit laying?
We had 101 degrees Monday, close to that Tuesday and 57-64 since then. Ah well.

love the new hair cut! Breakfast looks yummy... eggs over greens. We had record heat in the east and now are back to rainy and cold. We're all in jeans and huddling under blankets! Ugh! Hopefully the rest forced upon you by your bad weather will help your back heal.

Peace!

It's okay. You can give them the finger back :-) Hope your back starts feeling better soon!

I sure hope you're feeling better; if anything just because you make so many of US feel good!

Also, just a guess, but those flowers look to me like some kind of Campanula. Many times they self-sow, though how you got that many to do so is a mystery...

*chuckle* hope your tomatoes and you are back on good terms soon. LOVE the new do!!

Hi. I'm stopping by from the Nonconsumer Advocate. Is that eggs on greens? It looks delicious. If it is eggs, what did you dress the greens with?
