I've been getting a lot of national press lately from people interested in covering the Freeze Yer Buns Challenge that y'all are doing. Not only was it covered in USA Today back in December, and in the NY Times in January, the Weather Channel has been running a knock-off challenge with people doing weekly, televised, check-ins on their Weekend View program.Last week I was interviewed by a freelance reporter for the National Enquirer covering the story and today from a reporter for a national newspaper in Canada, The Globe and Mail. Both of these stories will hit the stands soon and I'll let you know when and provide links, if you are interested.
But, the most exciting news is that rap star Ludacris has written a new song about the challenge called, "How Low (Can You Go)". Very cool stuff. If you want to listen to the song you can check it out here.

That makes me warm and happy. Or maybe I'm warm because I'm wearing long underwear in a cold house and happy because I'm drinking hot tea. Either way, it's good.
I joined, unofficially, your challenge but with the last 2 storms upped my heat in case of lost power. Happy with it back at 56!
I saw that one post of people that live with NO HEAT. I think that's crazy. We've kept our thermostat around 58-62 this year! I'm proud of that!

You should be proud of all that you have accomplished. Please don't underestimate your impact on others. You have something to say and have found many outlets for your voice.
I'm glad that you are getting the recognition that you so rightly deserve.

I've been in the challenge for the 2nd year now, and I just realized the other day that my cat's winter coat is HUGE this winter - she's signed up too! :) I'm going to regret this come shedding season, but until then, we're both doing fine with wearing extra layers and cuddling under the blanket on the couch when we're sitting!
By the way, I'm one of those with NO heat most of the time - but I live in less than 400sq ft so I heat up the whole house by just cooking dinner, and Seattle had the warmest January in recorded history.
That is absolutely ridiculous! Congrats on coverage and reaching out to people of all different levels!
go Ludacris! lol
LOL I don't think thats what Luda is singing about.
I don't know, Crunchy. Are you going all mainstream on us? Just kidding. I love that your message is reaching so many people.
Kudos Crunchy Mama!!
We are freezing along with you ~ although, we may be even more motivated by the cost factor than saving the world with this one!
Green and cheap - a double threat.
Whoa Nellie!!! Wow! Ludacris is HUGE news, huge success to penetrate that far into mainstream culture.
yeeeeeeha. :-)
ok. you got me. shoulda listened to Ludacris first, huh. :-)
Just a babe in the woods today. And I REALLY should have guessed, too!
Oh, Greenpa. You, of all people, should know by now that I'm full of $#!t.
Dat vas pretty funny, yah sure you betchya.
Congrats on the news stuff.
Maybe this will become a huge national movement and the police will find scads of frozen bodies in the spring when we start to thaw and stink!
Why, the very idea is Ludacris!
I know our house is cold (low - mid 50's) because:
a) our cat lives in the basement in front of the wood burning stove
b) we live in the basement a lot
c) those watching TV (upstairs) use a wool blanket, and
d) my jojoba oil (for removing makeup) in the bathroom sometimes solidifies.
I've been experimenting with lowering the temperature at night - 54, 53, 52, last night 51 - and no one has noticed! We're in Vermont, and when it's above freezing - which everyone hates because it messes up the snow cover - the upstairs can even reach 60 when the basement stove is running well.
I love reading everyone's comments here, and feeling part of a really cool community.
Hey, Crunch, it COULDA been true! :-)
You caught me in a weak moment. Anyway, now you know if it WERE true, I'd be delighted.
