Green makeover reality show

I was going to do a Science Friday post today, but since it's a holiday for many of you, I thought I'd do a poll instead.

I may have the opportunity to audition for a role as a green expert on a green makeover reality show. Is this crazy or not?

Please vote in the poll and leave your witty remarks in the comments!

Should I audition as an expert for a green makeover show?

Why not if you want to. Much better you than some greenwashed expert.

Of course..what would I know :) I'm not American after all and probably won't get to see this anyhow...

I'd love to watch you in action! You seem really accessible, which I like a makeover expert.

Of course, I'd like you to raid their menstrual products and TP. Diva cups and family wipes for all!

I now expect to see you peeing on plants on TV. (See... again with the sewage comments...)

Thank you!

Deanna- seriously, I think you'd be great. I wouldn't consider it selling out; it's a chance to reach a much larger audience. And a lot of the green gurus doing blogs for the MSM are morons; so you'd help counterbalance that problem.

I think "Green Expert" and picture Capt. Kirk.

Um, so...

Go for it!

It never hurts to audition. If you get it, you may have a much better idea of what you're in for if you accept - or what possibilities are there for you if you don't.

I'm with the rest: Why not audition? Sounds like fun! :) And you might get a better idea of what the show's going to be like. If it turns out to be anti-plant-peeing greenwashed fluff you can always back out, right?

If it interests you, go for it, I'd totally watch any show you were on!

I think you'd be a great expert! You're well informed and rational. Too often those who care about environmental issues are portrayed by the media as overly-sentimental, hysterical, stupid, crazy etc. I don't think any of those terms would describe you in the least! Honestly, it sounds like a great opportunity to get more people thinking about important issues. You go girl!

What a wonderful opportunity that would be to get a genuine person on one of those reality shows. If you do end up on there try to make it real stuff for real people (if you have any say at all). I love the idea of giving the Diva cup a wider audience. And what about actual home made beauty products that you make with stuff from your pantry, y'know not just a buy this, buy that, but instead make this and make that and you don't have to worry about all the chemicals that go in it nor do you have to worry about the animal testing. I say go for it!

Hm- actually; part of the question should be: what channel is this show going to run on?

I'd bow out if it were Fox...

Ah! That would be awesome!!

Please. It would be stupid not to try your hardest to be on a show that would not only help your cause (potentially) but give you the ultimate resume for the future. What employer wouldn't want to interview someone that has been on TV? It would be that best thing for yourself and your family and again possibly for the cause. I say DO IT and DO IT WELL! Best of Luck (and if there is a vote please post it).

I think you should- if for any reason that if you got it- I could say I knew her when... she was just a small city blogger who'd pee on plants ( and got everyone else to do it too)

Sound like it would be fun, however I would caution you to be aware that the editors of the show have the ability to present you, your personality and your information however they would like. Remember that, in their mind, conflicts and over-the-top scenarios tend to win viewers. Not meaning to be a downer, but just wanted you to keep that in mind if you audition.

I'd do it giving the caveat that reality shows aren't real but it would be interesting to try. But most of all, I say go ahead and audition because I'd do it and I want to live vicariously through you.

They will probably try to make you look like a kook as much as possible. They are going for reaction, not reality. I would not bet on "reality tv" as a good place to convert the masses; I'd be too worried about how the editors were going to skew what I say to the point of turning people away from my message.

Green make-over?
Could be fun.
You could insist that people use the clothes in their own closet by doing the Wardrobe Refashion thing. That way no new clothes were used for the re-fashion. Now that would be a green make-over!
