Blog Update!
For those of you not following me on Facebook, as of the Summer of 2019 I've moved to Central WA, to a tiny mountain town of less than 1,000 people.

I will be covering my exploits here in the Cascades, as I try to further reduce my impact on the environment. With the same attitude, just at a higher altitude!

NW meetup date

Well, it looks like there are about 50 people who are interested in the NW Blogger Meetup that Melinda from One Green Generation and I are trying to arrange.

We wanted to run a poll on potential dates so that we all have a chance to put in our 2 cents. Given such a potentially large group, we are thinking of doing this at a public park.

So, if you have any suggestions of where to hold this, add it to the comments. It will be a local-food style potluck with a bring your own reusable plate, silverware and cup thang. Since it will be held at a park you can bring your kids and come and go as you like. I'm expecting this to be a mid-to-late afternoon event.

Once we get the date and location nailed down, I'll announce more of the final details and you can email me if you are still interested so I have a final head count and an email list to communicate with you all.

Just as a teaser, I'm also planning on hosting a few more get-togethers later this year with a focused agenda. The first will be a "Green Girls Party" to get women together and teach them how to make their own natural, green beauty products. The second will have a more holiday focus in teaching people how to make sustainable homemade gifts for the holidays. Stay tuned!

Well I wont be hoofing it up your way but I am interested in "... holiday focus in teaching people how to make sustainable homemade gifts for the holidays." I have been buying used and re-gifting but I haven't had any good ideas for home made.

I was thinking that this is really kinda cool that a bunch of you will be able to actually get together "in the flesh" as opposed to just virtual communication. One of the great things about the net of course is the ability to have blogs such as this one, and have people reading and commenting from everywhere- but one of the not so hot things about it is that it is a "virtual" community- which does have its limitations. So I think it's great that at least those of you out there in the Northwest have a chance to get together.

Now we out here in the Northeast just have to get Sharon and Kunstler together for a pot-luck(that would be a hoot actually I'd think ;-) )

It is so great to meet people you have been "friends" with online. We took a vacation up north this summer to visit friends in NY and Sharon Astyk lives about 10 miles from them, so I got to meet her. That was really cool. I also met another blogger who lives in Maryland, Danielle from Touch the earth Farm. It is refreshing and supportive to be able to talk with people in person. I am jealous I can't make it to Seattle, but I wish you all tons of fun!

I would love to attend, Crunchy! Unfortunately my weekends are full of walking as the Seattle 3-Day comes ever closer. I would be interested in the other get-togethers though.

Just read your raspberry post-- I'm drying, freezing, and jamming raspberries and blueberries today as well! Yum!

You have no idea how badly I wish I lived there. I have been trying to get a small group of 4 bloggers in Dallas together for 6 months now and still, not one meeting. Perhaps Dallas is not progressive enough to embrace blogging, or I'm not connecting with the right people!

I voted for a couple dates in particular but really, most any date would work. So long as the park is on a good bus line! Thanks for putting this together.

I'm not sure what you'll decide, but just a heads up about a couple events that may impact attendance - Bumbershoot is 8/30-31 and the Seattle Tilth Harvest Festival is 9/6. I'd also recommend a park that has some sort of play equipment so that if people bring kids, there is actually something for them to do. How about Volunteer Park? That is pretty centrally located in Seattle.

I'm hoping (trying!) to come all the way from Jacksonville, FL for the meetup! My family is in Seattle, and I'm trying to make it up to see them at the end of the month. Hope it works out so we can attend.

If I'm able to come, I will have kids with me, so play equipment would be lovely, as Monice mentioned.
