Blog Update!
For those of you not following me on Facebook, as of the Summer of 2019 I've moved to Central WA, to a tiny mountain town of less than 1,000 people.

I will be covering my exploits here in the Cascades, as I try to further reduce my impact on the environment. With the same attitude, just at a higher altitude!

Five brand new Divas

DivaCup Challenge 2008Thanks to all of you who have signed up for the DivaCup Challenge 2008. There's still time to add yourself to the growing list of women who are finally taking the plunge and giving the DivaCup a try.

For those of you who pledged to do the challenge up until yesterday, you were entered in a drawing. Five lucky women are winners of a brand spankin' new DivaCup:

1. S.N. of the blog, Saidlian Nataly
2. JenRob of the blog, Greening Middle America
3. ANewDay of the blog, With a turn...
4. FrugalNut of the blog, Frugal Nuts are Green
5. Gsgranola of the blog, Garden State Granola

Winners, please email me at crunchychickenblog@gmail.com with your mailing information and what size you want.

There are two choices:

Model 1 - for the tight and tiny
Model 2 - for the double wide

The rule of thumb is, if you are under 30 and haven't had children, choose Model 1. If you are over 30 or have had chitlins, then choose Model 2. The length of the cup is about the same with both models it's the girth that's different. For more information on choosing your size, please check with the experts.

For those of you who have signed up for the DivaCup Challenge and are still looking to buy one and/or can't find one locally, I'm in the process of setting up a discount for DivaCups through Lunapads. So stay tuned!

Congratulations winners! You are about to begin a journey toward menstrual freedom!

For people wondering, I did buy mine through South Coast Shopping. They were fast and hassle free.

I'll also recommend a site it you have any questions;

http://community.livejournal.com/menstrual_cups/

This is a laaaarge group of women who use cups, are interested in cups, and they have a lot of experience. Very helpful!

Crunchy,
Because of you, I decided to try the Diva Cup and I love it! The first month I used it, I had difficulty figuring out how to remove it without a struggle. Now I've gotten the hang of it and I find it so convenient.

For anyone that has trouble the first few times, I found that when I try to remove it first thing in the morning, it's best to wait until I've been up for about a half hour or so. It seems to not be up as high as when I first wake up.

Thanks Crunchy! I can't wait to try mine! :)

I can't use tampons as I get TSS within about a half hour. I have a low cervix that gets dilated with tampon use. Do you still recommend the Diva Cup?

Thanks,

I'm going to use one of these when I get my period again (I'm still breastfeeding my twins and Lil Miss hasn't come back yet). I'd totally love to stop having to buy pads and tampons.

Thank you Crunchy! I sent you my information.

I wanted to ask the experienced Diva users here that run, swim or bike, do you have any problems when doing these activities? Any advice?

No problems with any activities. It is truly the most liberating, wonderful thing. I just started mine, thanks to Crunchy, a few months ago and it has totally changed my life. You barely know you've got your period!

My word of advice: if it feels uncomfortable, you've got it in wrong. I did put it in wrong once and it was incredibly painful. If you've done it right, you hardly feel it.

There's a site called Lucky Vitamin which offers the Diva Cup for $19.xx. Can't remember the shipping cost, but I've used them twice for my daughters including one who had her Diva Cup stolen! (How cool is THAT!)

This particular daughter LOVES the thing. My other daughter HATED the thing but takes the type of birth-control pills that reduce menstruation to something like twice/four times a year. Different strokes.

Not trying to be obnoxious, but just doesn't look like this deal from Luna is a deal, Crunch.

Ok, I just ordered a Lunette. My hoo-hah is a little apprehensive but I said I will give it a go and I will.

I've just started using my Diva cup - yesterday, in fact - and I'm finding that it's riding up a lot. I had some leakage yesterday, but thus far today seems to be okay. Tell me, though - is it normal to have it ride up? The directions say it's not supposed to sit high like a tampon.

ARGH! I signed up for the challenge, have been trying the cup for two days, and am having so much leakage it's like it's not even in ... except it is, and I have the "owies" when I pull it out to prove it. It comes out with a dab in it, but I have a pad full. It seems to be open. I'm rotating it. It's not very high and it's not sticking out. So far I am not thrilled!! Any advice???
